Most Beautiful Stay
Absolutely incredible overall. Such a beautiful and remote location, close proximity to shops & things to do. We even received a breakfast basket. The lady who showed us in was so helpful and kind. We had such an amazing stay & will definitely be booking again.

Do not stay here! Bed was tiny, not a double and terrible mattress. Room 6 is basically the office with a tiny bed put in, doors opens right out onto reception desk so no privacy. Reception closes at 8pm so they left the room key under a flower pot outside for us to collect. Hotel left unnamed overnight. Shower tray blocked and completely floods onto the horrible bathroom carpet. Tiny tv that can only be viewed from the edge of the bed. Coffee cups that do not fit under the small coffee maker so could not be used. Dirty carpet, uneven floor and no one available to discuss with all weekend. We left at 6am as could not sleep, I am a well seasoned traveler and have never had such a bad experience, do not stay

What a hidden gem
An amazing property, situated in the middle of build up area but you really wouldn't know it. The building and the ground are beautiful and idelic . As soon as you arrive up through the little driveway past the pebbled car park the house presents itself wonderfully. From the reception to the rooms the word quaint comes to mind. There were a few little floors but considering the house is dated 1800s but I won't tarnish the house. I had tour of the morning I left so I got to view every room and the honeymoon suite which my partner and I stayed in was due for refurbishment which I needed. Every other room were outstanding. So the question is would I return ? No only am I returning we've decided that it will be our wedding venue that's how amazing the place is.

Perfect
The Orangery and Old Rectory Hotel is stunningly beautiful! On arrival we were told that as it was our wedding night, they had upgraded us to The Honeymoon Suite. Staff were extremely friendly and interested in how our day went. This hotel doesnt have a breakfast facility, however; there was a beautiful little continental breakfast in a lobelt basket wairing for us. Pint of milk in the fridge as well as orange juice and yoghurts. Would absolutely stay again! Gorgeous. Thank you for making our wedding night so special x

Private = somewhere else
To start with NOT a 4 star - maybe 2 or 3. Very old and creaky, very creaky and be under no illusions with descriptions. Private bathroom whilst accurate, it is private, is also a little light on detail. Private means a different room across a public hallway from the bedroom. So this 4 star hotel includes rooms that are NOT en suite and with the freaks of the floor a visit to the bathroom in the night is a noisy and cumbersome experience.

Not worth the price
3rd attempt leaving a review, am unable to upload photos, come on Hotels.com! This was our 2nd visit here, first time stayed 2 nights in a double (only room left at time of booking), this time stayed in an executive room for 1 night only. We had been impressed by the customer service last time, was similar this time but my gripe is with the price and the cleanliness. We paid £129 for room only. Last time we learned the hotel was mid refurbishment, downstairs had been completed, the bedrooms were the next stage. Had thought this might have been completed but no. We checked in, left our stuff upstairs, room looked quite nice, went downstairs for dinner and drinks in the bar and only noticed on our return to our bedroom the following; huge cobweb on curtain in bathroom, light pull cord filthy and when toilet flushed, plumbing noisy! Also wardrobe had handle missing, pretty basic stuff... On checking out I mentioned to reception which was passed on to the GM and I did receive an email from Lindsey. The staff were very nice but it’s the owners who are at fault here, far too expensive for the condition of the rooms.

Tranquil
This is the second time I've stayed at the old rectory hotel and both times I've been very impressed. The staff are attentive, friendly and courteous. The hotel itself is very well looked after, the orangery in particular is very nice. The garden area is tranquil and especially nice in the sunshine we've been experiencing recently. My only slight negative, would be that the bathroom is down the corridor from the bedroom, which is inconvenient, but not a major issue.

VERY LOW QUALITY HOTEL ONE STAR
The room was VERY DIRTY and the shower was Filthy the restaurant was not open but advertised as open and we were told we could go to a pub down the road to eat, the room was advertised as hsving a bath shower combination buth only had an old metal framed shower enclosure the cubivle was filthy and the shower head had not been cleaned for a long time when i asked the manager if there was a water hygene procedure to ensure against legionaires he did know what i was talking about, the bathroom door only had a hook to hold it shut but still left a gapping gap so there was no privacy when sitting on the loo. The windows had black mould between the glass and frame, the noise from a cocktail bar below the room went on untill the early hours and the bar wc below the room has a door which hits the toilet seat with a loud band everytime a customer in the bar used it. This hotel should not have four stars maybe two at the very most, we cancelled the second nights stay and was promised a refund but never recieved it, would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone and should be removed from your list immediately PLEASE

Good sleep and good breakfast, with some character
Located in the woods It is a listed building, so there is certain character there, in other words it is not neutral. If you are happy to accept that the building is old it is a rather pleasant place, it was a bit too warm in the room so I kept my window open through the night (November). So a combination of hot radiators and open windows made it just right temperature wise with lots of fresh air. Combined with no noise outside it was perfect for a good sleep. Full English breakfast was very tasty and good quality. Parking is good. I did not look thoroughly when I was booking, my bathroom and toilet were in a separate room, and to get there I had to walk through the corridor. There was no one else using that corridor though. But, the room was huge and the bathroom was huge too (bigger than my small bedroom at home) with a shower cabin and a big triangular bath.

Elegant hotel in secluded beautifully garden
Wonderful old property, very well presented in secluded established grounds. Excellent breakfast menu, cosy guest bar and the orangery is a lovely feature. It was like staying in a country hotel but with the benefit of being close to urban facilities.

A disappointment overall
The staff were really helpful, friendly and professional. The building and setting is beautiful. Parking is great. Location is great. We were really looking forward to staying here. However, the bedrooms are tired and dated. The kettle had to go on the floor to be used as the cable was too short to reach the table. The mirror was too low to stand in front of it (we're both 5'9" tall) and the huge room had such a small TV you could barely see it from the bed or sofa! We were shown three rooms before we found one that came with a shower and that had the bathroom right down the landing away from the room instead of en-suite. The doors were really creaky (WD40 required), the bed was so hard we both had a sleepless night with our backs aching in the morning. The restaurant was nice, the food was good but we both eat out a lot and thought the meal was 50% over priced for what it is. The waitresses forgot our drinks on both occasions we ordered them! 2 drinks each, a starter and a main each plus 1 portion of chips (which were extra but were needed in order to give a reasonable main meal portion) came to £76!!!! plus £7 tip is a huge amount for 2 people!! All in all we would not stay here again.

Hidden gem
We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting relatives in nearby Alvechurch. We didn't eat in the hotel but both nights relaxed in the bar. Mention has to be made of Liam who checked us in and later on, served us in the bar; exceptional customer service and a credit to the hotel. Our room was a bit dated however I note that refurbishment is on the cards. We will certainly stay here again in the future.

Attractive old rectory in manicured gardens
Unfortunately due to several mishaps our stay was not a success. No signal for TVs meant there was little to do in evening, there's only so much time you can spend in the bar! We were given free Irish coffees. Our room was extremely small and was more suited for single occupant, even set with single towels etc. Restaurant looked beautiful and lovely dining atmosphere however, due to staff problems our meal was very late in arriving, an explanation would have sufficed but it added to our frustration. We were offered a bottle of wine to compensate for lack of tv signal and certain staff were very apologetic. Breakfast was an added charge to the room bill so we were expecting something really good.....it was awful, over cooked and had to be returned. They did refund us for this.

A very welcoming hotel
The staff were very welcoming and anxious to make sure we had everything we needed on our late arrival on a bitterly cold night. The hotel made the most of its age + was decorated beautifully for Christmas in a Dickensian style. It had large magical Christmas trees in the reception and lounge areas + made the most of the manteled fireplaces. The rooms were clean and well equipped.
