We have traveled all over the world & stayed in many rentals. While we loved Jamaica, we’ve never received service as poor as we did with Marvin. Marvin is not a host. He is a property owner that provides zero support to guests.
He will not help you with any issues or concerns. He expected us to know we have to go to the front desk for all issues, without telling us. Once he finally explained he lives in another country & has no control over the unit, we realized we were stuck in Jamaica with zero support from the host. The front desk told us we needed to talk to the Vrbo host for all issues, completely contradicting what the host said.
On day 2, we had a strange man break into our unit using a key. I was not clothed & was very alarmed, screaming at him to leave. He forced his way inside to “check the door”. He didn’t check anything, he only walked into the unit then walked back out. The host did NOTHING to assist, in fact he acted frustrated rather than apologetic. From this point on, communication with the host was horrendous. He ignored 95% of my messages.
Then, our electricity went out in the unit for 14 hours. The host did not respond, nor did he offer a resolution. Front desk told us we need to work out a resolution with the host, which wasn’t possible due to the hosts unhelpful attitude and unresponsiveness.
On top of that, the bath needs a deep clean/refinishing. We rented this unit specifically for the romantic bath & didn’t get to use it bc it was so gross.
