Hi - it was one of the warmest days this year and the room, having had the afternoon sun was warm. The aircon switch was high up and I had to climb on the furniture to switch it on. Then, the batteries in the remote were almost flat. The batteries in the tv remote were also almost flat. Both were not easy to get working.

I Had a really lovely one night stay where i made good use of the facilities, pool area quite small and limited beds but ok, the food was good and reasonably priced. Couple of minor issues, would be nice to have a USB charger in the rooms,so easy to swap out a traditional socket for one with a USB, also the background music is dreadful,so dated and thats coming from a 64 year old,albeit a young 64 year old overall really good though and will return

Our stay at this hotel was relaxing and we were impressed by the extremely efficient and friendly staff. Loved chilling in the spa and found the elegant lobby area perfect for a quiet read and a coffee. Would definitely visit again!

Staff were nice and very welcoming. Afternoon Tea was lovely and they had a nice gluten free option. Only minus - was the Venison pie on the evening menu. It was over priced for what it was @£25 and I waited over an hour for it to arrive. Other than that, the breakfast and the spa facilities were good and I had a relaxed, comfortable stay. Would recommend the hotel.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful room

We treated ourselves to one of the delux rooms with the bath in it. It was palatial. The room was very clean and stylishly decorated. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. Especially with the booking process. We’ll definitely be back.

Fabulous little stay

We stayed here for a wedding that was down the road, it was lovely. The room and bathroom were bigger than expected, staff were super friendly and funny, breakfast options were healthy and varied, the grounds were beautiful and the added extra of having a spa to visit pre and post wedding was idillic. When I return to tunbridge I know where I shall be staying from now!

The Spa Hotel

Overall the reception staff were friendly and helpful. They could have been more organised on arrival and seemed preoccupied rather than providing the customary greeting to a new arrival. This was a little off putting at first. They were busy as it was New Year’s Eve and they had multiple bookings. The staff were attentive ahead of the booking and asked if I would like to book in their restaurant. The staff member did not seem keen for me to attend the gala which was taking place on the same night when I suggested it and failed to tell me that the restaurant would be empty and there would be a limited menu. The facilities are a little dated and the spa is small but the spa staff are friendly. The bartender seemed tired and brusque on the first night of my stay but again, they were busy. I was grateful to the reception staff who were attentive to some additional requests. If you are booking solely to use the spa, I believe there are better and bigger facilities but the area is picturesque and there are plenty of good local restaurants and a couple of good fine art galleries in the local vicinity.

Beautiful decor, lovely restaurant, great staff.Gorgeous rooms. The only negative is the lack of relaxing spaces to truly relax post treatment as lounge is a thouroughfare and pool small and busy due to children.

Good for the price.

Great staff, nice hotel. There was a Christmas do there the night we stayed so a bit noisy but nothing worse than to be expected and they sounded like they had fun! Spa area a bit small but clean. Bar a bit dated and pricey but the staff are very good.

The property is fantastic. Set in beautiful surroundings. Facilities and staff magnificent. The only downside was they charge for a cappuccino at breakfast. You can have a regular coffee but have to pay for a ‘speciality’ coffee. This lets it down really.

Pleasant stay, breakfast only warm!

All was good, little details could be improved upon, Breakfast was good also but my pet hate is Luke warm food being served! Hot food direct from the kitchen ( no Buffet ) so great start, but to only find that the mushrooms were at best warm, sausage was warm with no colour to it, followed by cold tomato and dry black pudding (Luke warm) only thing that was hot was the fried eggs? No excuse would understand if on a buffet ( still not acceptable but seems to be the norm!) Staff where very attentive and should have been a much better experience!

Curate's egg

Reception were excellent, quick, polite and helpful. Would have been nice to have an offer to take my bag up to the room. Room was stiflingly hot and airless but eventually someone came up to open the window for me which required just a bit more force than I had applied. Bed comfortable but pillows like rubber boulders - would have been nice to have a choice - bathroom clean and well organised. Overhead shower in bath not great for women's hair. Do people still steal hangers? This type where you have to detach and reattach the hanger on to the slider on the rail are not only infuriating but less than generous in view of how little they cost in the scheme of things. I would rather have paid £5 more for the room. Was indecisive about having breakfast and unfortunately caved and went in to the dining room which would benefit from some decorative touches to stop it looking like a mass catering cafeteria. What a disappointment in a hotel with such history in a town with a long and famous spa reputation. After 20 minutes I was asked if I'd like tea or coffee and also gave my breakfast choice of poached eggs on granary toast. Twenty minutes later two poached eggs appeared on a cold plate with two unbuttered and barely toasted rubbery triangles of bread (not granary). Eggs perfectly poached but there is something failing between chef and guest which would break my heart if I was cooking. I was disappointed not cross about my stay, needs tweaking to achieve spoily status.

A nice if rather peculiar hotel

The hotel was faultless, that is to say that there was nothing wrong. It did lack something though. Character, style,elegance perhaps. Interior design was a bit odd, lighting was not good...to bright, the food was very bland despite looking very interesting on the menu. The bar was terrible, bad fizzy beer served carelessly. The bat decoration must have been designed to discourage guests from staying too long.

2-night visit on way home

Our first visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells which was rather soggy so I don't think we got to see it fully. However, the bits we saw and the hotel were a lovely intro. Hotel is about 20 mins from the centre. We had a side room which was perfectly comfortable but with the large windows did make us feel a little exposed. Next time we would ask for a view of the gardens which are lovely. We had a treatment each (thank you, Abby) and used the spa and gym facilities which are lovely. Breakfast was great and the staff here were friendly, special thanks to Kira. We ate out both evenings but had a quick drink in the bar one night. My only comment, and maybe only because of the time of year, so couldn't sit outside, is that the comfortable area in the foyer has a faint odour of chlorine, so for me, wasn't an area that I wanted to hang around in. Not sure if possible, but might be worth opening one of the function rooms on ground floor or even first floor (with a garden view) as a place to relax? I would have been more tempted to have afternoon tea then (although I know it's served in the Orangery which is a lovely space, we'd already had breakfast in there and potentially dinner, I would have felt a bit confined). It will be on my list to return to in the spring/summer.

Enjoyable spa break

Very enjoyable one night spa break. Lovely large clean room in a peaceful location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great massage in the Spa. Excellent breakfast.
