Standard rooms small with very little cupboard space. Built and maintained for Japanese tourists but not for tourists from abroad with more luggage than locals. Very very clean.

This hotel is over the road from the train station which is so handy for visitors. It is modern and the name is in English ob the outside which can be seen for a long way so you never get lost. The facilities are good and there is a 7 eleven on the ground floor for food etc and a big shopping centre next door, Small restaurants in the basement serve great food at reasonable prices.

Our four person family barely fit into one of the double rooms (two full size beds). There's about 2' of space beyond the foot of the beds. The bathroom is very small with little counter space. There's an extra bed under one of the beds which, when out, gives you about a yard/meter of space total between the beds. It's very tight and there isn't much counter space either. The breakfast (which costs about $20 adult/$10 kids) buffet is excellent and worth the reduced price you get it for when you pay ahead. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance from a department store and the train station. There are a number of hotels that are walking distance from the train station and I'm not sure how they compare. It's also where the tour buses pick you up (we did a tour of Kyoto one day and saw thousands of people during 6 stops). We stayed in May and there were so many tourists. I'd have rather had cold winter weather and fewer crowds. We lost track of our breakfast tickets on day 2 and they were kind enough to replace them for free. And one day we went green and didn't have our room cleaned which gained us two free bottles of water (about a $2 value :-). If we had this part of the trip to do over, we'd ask for the extra bed to be made up. Dragging it out from under the other bed ourselves wasn't as convenient. Also--beware, I can't imagine the folks with large luggage having a place to store it in the room. We each had a smallish backpack and that barely fit.
