The cottage is lovely and comfortable just like in the pictures. It sits on a well maintained property set on a spectacular beach, the finest on the island and probably in the world. What needs to be stressed because there is no mention of it in the listing and you only find out after you have booked is just how remote it is. It is located at the northern extremity of the island and at the end of a 2-mile dirt road in terrible condition. You absolutely need a vehicle and not just any vehicle but a jeep. The Queen’s Highway is in such bad condition with massive potholes - too many to avoid - that you will damage the rims with an ordinary car and get a flat and with the speed limit at 65 km/hr (40m/hr) driving is tedious. It is also not cost effective to rent a car just to go to the grocery store on occasion. So if you are going to Long Island for a few days to a week then it is a good choice otherwise you are better to stay near the middle of the island where there is more of everything and you won’t have as far to drive in either direction. Also there is not much water pressure and although you can get a 7-8 minute shower you won’t get two showers back to back. Furthermore, the lighting in the bathroom is inadequate at night. Finally the cottage is surrounded by video surveillance but guests are not told which is against booking site regulations.
