Heron's landing is a solid, budget, option. The room was quiet, clean, and functional and the bed was comfortable (and bug-free - we ALWAYS check). We missed breakfast, but it looked like a good solid breakfast.
The building, carpets, and fixtures are old and don't appear to have been updated so it's a bit shabby looking - but the lack of updates is probably what makes the reasonable price possible.
The parking was truly the worst feature. There isn't enough space for all the guests, and the owners block off two spots in the garage for their expensive cars, so we ended up parked across the road for the night in a nasty storm.
The other thing to be aware of is that the reception desk closes at 5 pm, and we didn't know to expect that, leaving us confused about how to find our room when we arrived.
There is a sign at the desk that invites guests to dial "0" to get instructions, but it's not as clear as it could be, and easy to miss if you don't know to look for it. We met one person who had found his key-card and gone through the hotel trying it in every door to in an attempt to find his room.
This confusion could be easily resolved by ensuring that a simple, standard, email is sent to all new bookings advising of the 'after-hours' check-in process. (yes, I gave this suggestion directly to the person at reception the next morning)
