We enjoyed our stay at the historic Monterey Motel. Our room was tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. We took a walk to the nearby river trail and ate dinner across the street from the motel. In the morning, a nearby coffee shop was quite convenient. We'd definitely stay again next time we're in Albuquerque.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Never have I been SO disappointed by a property. I hate leaving bad reviews for a non-chain hotel. When I got to the hotel there was not clear signage to where the lobby was. well guess what? The bar is the concierge. So when you need something personal everyone in the bar can hear your request I hated checking in in the bar, more than that I hated asking for extra towels in a packed bar. Oh the towels never arrived btw, the girl running the bar had said "I don't know what im doing or where anything is" The room overall was fine. the biggest plus was the bed comfort, but oh my gosh to my shock I saw a big old brown stain underneath the covers days later... YUCK!!! The tv, lighting and bed comfort were the highlights BIG CONS SAFETY: I was an alone traveler. there were no peep holes on any doors, no secondary locks, no working deadbolt in room 4. HORRIBLE. PLEASE get peepholes and secondary locks. the lady upon checkout was like "youre right we do need those!" HOT WATER: feel like waiting an upwards of 15-25 minutes for it!?Reminder that New Mexico is a drought state. Water is not in a booming supply there. So wasting it for almost a half hour felt wrong to me. I dreaded showering. Also there's a weird half wall in the shower so the floor got flooded I emailed the regional to ask about a partial refund and no answer so I will be asking Expedia. there was more but I have a character limit; DONT STAY HERE

We loved this very cool retro property. The only thing that was inconvenient is that the office wasn't always open and we had to wait a few minutes to check in/out, but it wasn't a big deal. We had a good time and the bed was pretty comfortable!

Poorly managed property. The television in our room didn’t work and the sole staff member in charge of helping us shrugged his shoulders and told me that that internet was chronically spotty and that as the bar tender it really wasn’t his area of expertise. On top of that the shower had abysmal water pressure and the cleanliness of the room was found to be lacking. Aside from some cool design touches I would advise looking somewhere else if you’re in need of a place to stay in Albuquerque.

The room was pretty clean and cute and had all essentials you would need. One of the nights there was a crisis going on in the room next to us from 2am-4am and we could hear everything. We called the lobby and they didn’t do anything for us so we had to call 911. The cops were able to deescalate the situation luckily, but we didn’t get much sleep. The walls are very thin and you could hear traffic all night as well.

I really enjoyed this hip modern expression of the old motel. Lovely room. Simple amenities. Super clean. Great idea for a sociable bar right there so you don't have to drive anymore.

The hotel was great except for the shower. There was no shower door and a lot of water was on the floor when I was finished showering. There never was any soap in the dispenser at the sink. I used soap from the shower.

My daughter was bit twice once on her ankle and once in her hand. Found small spiders killed around 10 plus ants not sure how many also took down spider webs. Couldnt get in first night door lock for card was broke so had to go back anf forth to get keys and try the other door for room. Bathroom had a bad smell after taking showers and they had soap on the wall in a pump which i tried and it had the worst smell like it was bad cant describe it but have never had an issue like that anywhere. Only told they would tell the manager and charged us which was over 700 for two nights. Figured it would be a better experience not buying bite ointment for my daughter and the pain from the bites.

Dear Lexie and Cesar, I do apologize for the inconveniences experienced during your stay. I do understand there's an issue with the doorlock on 203 which the ordered part did not come in right away. I did walk both of the rooms this morning and used a flashlight to look in all corners and crevices and found no evidence, however, we will have our pest control person come in to inspect and give us a written statement. Great!
Only stayed one night but the guy at the desk was really nice. The room was really comfortable. It’s quiet cute little place that we would’ve liked to have stayed longer but had a early morning balloon ride.

Cons: If you're given room 19, find another hotel! It is literally on the street, and between the roaring traffic noise and the music played just across the driveway, it sounds like you're in a nightclub on a traffic median. I can not stress this enough-It. Is. LOUD. There is not enough parking, so if you get there past about 9pm expect to wait for a parking spot. Pros: really cute, updated motel on Route 66 very close to Old Town. GREAT bed!

There is no front desk. Confusing as we registered. In a bar. Very nice bartender who allowed us to switch rooms as ours was musty smelling.

Route 66
A refurnished modern hotel on route 66 near the old town, the rooms were large and airy. This was fine, although travellers should be aware old town restaurants close on Monday and Tuesdays, Unfortunately our shower was cold and struggled for pressure and our bed was unmade for one day. The hotel has a bar and hosted a DJ on our Monday night.

Outlet did not work for the coffee maker, the soap dispenser did not work in the shower, the soap dispenser by the sink was empty, and the toilet seat was adjusted off to one side so your skin touched the bowl, gross!

We enjoyed our stay at the Monterey!
We had a wonderful stay at the Monterey Hotel. The staff was very friendly, especially Jane. The room was ready on time, check-in was a breeze. It’s walkable to a great little outside pavilion with food vendors and also walking distance to Kauffmans- best bagels and green Chile cream cheese, yummy Italian sodas. Pool at Monterey was small but clean. Our room was airy and spacious. We are a family of three and reserved the adjoining rooms with the bunk beds. Our daughter loved this! This would be excellent for a family of up to 6 (2 adults/ 4 kids). Only one bathroom. But worked for us. Lots of towels.

The room was large. There is a refrigerator but no microwave. The shower has poor water pressure and we ran out of hot water at 10am one morning. There is no one in the lobby until the afternoon so if you need anything you have to go to the hotel next door which apparently is owned by the same people. Otherwise it is a cute, clean, nicely maintained place.
