"A wonderful stay. The morning service at the temple was a profound experience. The introduction to zazen was great, though Japanese speakers will get most out of this - ditto the lecture before morning service. The meals were excellent, and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. All together, this short stay was a true highlight of my month in Japan. If you’re staying over a Tuesday, you should be aware that (all?) the restaurants in Eiheiji village seem to close on that day. I’m sure...

"The staff greeted us immediately when we went out of the car and was very hospitable and helpful all through the stay. The food was nice. The onsen (hot spring) was also nice. The properties, however, are in dire need of renovation."
