We just stayed 1 night so we weren't looking for a spectacular hotel. However, for the cost we expected more than what we got. The location and complimentary breakfast options were very good. The staff could have been a bit more friendly and the hotel definitely needs an upgrade. Especially in the rooms like the beds and showers.

Scandic Polar is an old hotel what need full restauration but is good enough for holliday,excellent staff and breakfast is very good.i will come again here if the price will be ok

Excellent location, felt safe. Was clean, warm, cosy, and friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. A little dated but part of its history ( pictures of how it looked many years ago on walls) and feature. Everything we needed as a base

Good service but poor hardware.
The staff were friendly and the room was spacious. However there are a lot of rooms that are not accessible by lift, and very often tourists had to carry their luggage’s up and down the long staircases, which is very often not easy to do. So be careful when selecting this hotel - if you’re travelling with wheelchairs or heavy luggages, maybe another hotel would be better. If not, Scandic Polar is perfect.

Lapland stay
I did not stay at the scandic polar as it was closed. I stay at the scandic pohanjovi instead. This was a more picturesque . Location perfect with busses stopping outside. Also on new yeats eve , i did not have to go outside . This is a four star hotel. It has a pool and sauna. I did not use either mainly because of covid and i was outside most of tbe time.

Nice service but the hotel is worn down
Friendly service and a bowl of candy with a hand written/drawn card in the room as a welcome gift made up for otherwise worn down and outdated hotel.

Good location but old hotel
The hotel is old and dated. But beds were comfortable. If you are looking just to sleep and have no need of other amenities, then this hotel would do. On the plus side, the location is very good.

comfy hotel
the room is very spacious.the hotel is conveniently located next to the bus stop for santa claus express too. however, we can hear people talking and laughing on the streets at night which disturbs our sleep. overall, it's a nice hotel

Great place to stay
The lobby area looks pretty old fashion, but once you get to the room, it's very modern and up to date. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast buffet was great. I'd stay there again.

A Good Hotel in Rovaniemi
We stay at a triple room with 3 single beds, the room is quite large and spacious. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Location is also good and easy to everywhere of city center on foot. Overall is good and be recommended!

Very nice hotel for a good price
I was really happy with the hotel, for a budget holiday I dont think you can ask for more. Rooms were warm, nice and clean, beds very comfortable. Nice shower. Breakfast a nice option of food, simple but a big selection and vey nice. Hotel is based in fantastic location, close to everywhere, food, market, restaurants, trips etc. Hotel staff are very friendly, no issues at all. Would really recommend and come back.

Great place
Walls a little thin so be sure to keep your volume down. The room was spacious and the hotel is easy to find. Great eats around the area but may get crowded so do make reservations. Hotel staff are available 24/7 and are friendly and helpful.

Good location
The hotel is conveniently located in the city center. supermarket, shops, bar and restaurants are all 2 minutes away. Bus stop to and from train station and Santa Claus village is down stairs. The hotel is a bit old and breakfast is minimal, but given the relatively cheap price and location, I think it is all right if you are looking for a clean and tidy place to sleep.

Loved the snow
We enjoyed staying here, right in the middle of the town area. Buses to Santas village nearby and also the frozen river. Christmas decorations everywhere and snow. It's like a fairyland, just beautiful. The room is spacious with big windows to look at the snow. It was great to see the snow falling from our warm room. Breakfast was delicious too. Staff were friendly.

Pleasant staying. Even though we where on time for breakfast we did not eat almost anything because the service took the plats off earlier probably because the hotel will beclosed until christmas

Dear Guest, I´m sorry you have missed our breakfast. Hotel was open for fair Kelekkamessut on that weekend. Breakfast was served one hour longer than on weekdays, until 10:30 am both mornings. Breakfast time info is seen on elevators and on a room info. Closer of the hotel was late in the afternoon and had no impact on breakfast. Welcome to Polar again! Kind regards Aino

The girls from the reception desk were amazing, kind and very helpful! The only thing I guess it wasn't that great was the size of the bed - to small for me but very comfortable.

Needs some sprucing up!
The hotel looks really old and musty - it's in dire need of some refurbishment! The hotel staff is excellent though. Location is pretty good, but Rovaniemi is a small town. Wifi is good. Breakfast spread wasn't a lot. Would return if they would just do something about the hotel.. especially with such a new hotel like Artic Light just opposite at about the same price.

Nice hotel close to everything
This hotel located next to central bus stop and near to everything. Breakfast quality was good and room was spacious. Facility looks not new but well maintained.

Good location. Good breakfast
We arrived early and they tried to accommodate us before check in time,which we found very kind by them. The location is really good. We have to got a taxi on the way back to the airport cause the bus didn't turn up, just to keep in mind that could happens.

Big room in an old hotel.
The room was the largest we stayed in during three weeks of travels so we were able to spread out, however the hotel is showing its age. The breakfast was good and the wifi worked (unlike in other hotels nearby).

I have stayed at this hotel before. A little more quaint than a larger hotel nearby. I enjoy its atmosphere. Nice staff. This is the first time I have stayed closer to two weeks. The morning buffet never changed and it got very boring to eat there. More than fine if you are staying only a few days. Mixing up the breakfast offering would be very nice.

Good affordable hotel in the City Centre.
I found this hotel on Expedia and loved the price and location. Public transport was great in Rovaniemi so it worked out great for my friends and I--we took a shuttle in from the airport and could walk all around the downtown. The reception was super friendly and had all kinds of good ideas for things we could do in town, including booking a Northern Lights tour right when we arrived. I really liked the breakfast--the meatballs were cool as were the awesome sugar cookies. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that we couldn't regulate temperature in the rooms. I get hot easily and two of our three nights, I had to sleep with a window open since the heat was cranked. But aside from that, it was a great hotel!

Great location
A rustic but basic hotel located in great area. Decent breakfast with really good bread and cold cuts. Staff behind the counter were extremely friendly, helpful and informative. Very convenient and easy access to local buses to Santa Village as well as the airport. Walkable to the Artikum Museum and other malls.
