I had a private room upstairs, however, you can just hear about everything downstairs and the talking next door because the door of my room was basically just a thin slice of traditional rice-paper slidingdoor.
The shower unit and toilet are both downstairs meaning every time you need to use the bathroom you gotta walk a steep narrow Japanese stairs to the first floor (imagine how dangerous this could be in the middle of the night to use the bathroom). The private corridor of my room was messy and stacked with mattress and unused pillow and blankets.
Please note that the guesthouse is locked between 11am-3pm, meaning you have to be out by 11am otherwise you'll be locked in til 3pm:( Had I known this I would not book this place. Check-in time was strictly from 4pm-8pm, which is really late comparing with other hotels. All in all, this is a guesthouse, you get what you paid for.
