We loved everything about our stay. The hotel is just off the top of the royal mile. Less than 5 minutes away from the castle and 10 minutes to Princes Street Gardens.
Our room was a decent size and well thought out to make use of all available space. The shower was wonderful. Full toiletries including conditioner and body lotion.
There was a sliding door to close the sleeping area off from the wardrobe and bathroom area making the sleeping area cosy. There were no stupid LED lights leaving only the TV light to cover with clothes (yes I am one of those people who can’t sleep with lights in the room).
Staff were friendly and helpful. The concierge and reception teams are brilliant.
The restaurants and bar serve delicious food and have a wide selection of drinks. The Bar tenders are knowledgeable and funny. They serve excellent cocktails.
The only problem we had was with service at breakfast on a busy day. We waited for over 10 minutes then had to call somebody over to ask for coffee. It took another 5 minutes to arrive.
There is an excellent buffet but if you want poached/fried eggs or waffles etc they have to be ordered and we had a long wait on that busy day.
The next day we asked the person seating us if we could order coffee immediately which worked well. I wonder if the hotel might make it common practice to offer hot drinks as people are seated or consider a self serve option? It’s the only thing I’d change.
Overall a fabulous hotel. We loved it.
