Iconic place filled with historical and majestic vibes. Everything was great. Food was delicious. The piano player at 1902 restaurant at dinner was phenomenal playing um Kalthoum and other classic Arabic music. Really memorable. The staff is polite and extra kind and gracious. The wooden stairs were not so clean and had webs at some corners.

This is a most luxurious hotel with large rooms with balconies, huge bath. And the bed is the softest--like sleeping on a cloud. Love the public spaces. A gem to be found in Aswan on the Nile. The food was only ok. But the service was great. We had the most expensive martini I have ever had at the bar! $42! But I would still return if in Aswan.

Magical setting right on the Nile! Beautiful and historic building, fabulous swimming pool and spa for relaxing (highly recommend Donya at the spa for massages and body scrub), fantastic restaurants (3), and the staff was so friendly and attentive. We spent New Year’s Eve and 6 days before on the property and it was a magical vacation. Visits of historic sites in the mornings and then relaxing by the pool in the afternoons. Perfect vacation

My wife and I stayed at this Historical hotel so look over the Niles, to experience a part of history, and also to enjoy a bit of luxury in a classy way. This hotel meets all of our expectation. About the only negative thing is that's a bit far from the airport, and haggling with the local taxi driver requires way too much effort.

Truly magnificent with spectacular view
Beautiful room with incredible view. Marina from Guest Relations was fabulous, organised a special cake for my husbands birthday which was most appreciated. Housekeeping and room service staff were lovely and helpful. Fabulous service from the bar staff. Gorgeous hotel full of history and beautifully renovated. We will definitely be back.

We had multiple bookings for this property and both were great. Our first was in the original building with a garden view. The rooms are older but very well maintained so they don't feel old or dated in any way, plus they are quite large. Staying in this building is very convenient for dining as all the restaurants but the Egyptian grill are here including the breakfast buffet. Our second booking had us in the newer building with a Nile view. This room was amazing, pretty much apartment size and the balcony was quite large with AMAZING views of the Nile and sunset. Of the two I would definitely choose the newer building rooms as my favorite but both were great. Staff at the hotel were fantastic. Breakfast was delicious but doesn't have any serving stations like a buffet, so no eggs. Dinners were just okay. Their food seems to cater to elderly British tastes. The best of the restaurants was the Egyptian one at the newer building. All that said the stay was amazing and by far the best hotel in Aswan.

This hotel is an oasis in the middle of a chaotic area on the Nile. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and it's staff. This is a top notch place to stay exceeding all of my expectations. The location is terrific, the rooms are oversized in the new wing, and boats are docked right at the hotel for taxi rides up the river. The ambiance is romantic and relaxing, with a spa on site. I will return to this one!

The Old Cataract is pricey but so lovely. The history of the place adds to the charm and sense of going back in time. The rooms we had were beautiful and huge. The staff is friendly and helpful, though we did have a few issues with service at the restaurants. I believe it was more a language issue than anything else though. We loved our stay here and highly recommend the splurge!

Hotel Is Beautiful, Service Is Inconsistent
First, I'd have to say that the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract is just a beautiful hotel. Maybe the best views in all of Aswan. With that being said, the service and experience was not 5-star. Check-in was a bit awkward. I was working remotely during my stay and the wi-fi was inconsistent, the child seats need to be replaced and some meals were flavorless. Overall, some of the staff just need better training and general ettiqutte to work within the tourism industry. Some staff assumed that because we could "pass as local", or, don't look like their typical guests they serve, that that somehow invalidated our right to a 5-star experience. It hurts because you see other guests who look different receiving 5-star service that matches thr aesthetic of the hotel. I do commend management for trying to resolve some issues we had, because they did to a degree. We even got complimentary 5 hour extension on our stay and dinner was covered on the 3rd night. However, in the unlikely event that we return to Egypt, it won't be at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract.

Terrible Food/Service, Sofital Legend Old Cataract
The food & service at The Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel, Aswan, Egypt was poor. We arrived after a long day of travel not having eaten. We ordered a margharita pizza. It came not cooked fully, dough with melted cheese. The other food was terrible and then the servers did not come back to the table with the bill. We had to go to the counter adjacent the pool to ask for the bill.

Best tour and best hotel in Egypt!
Had a fabulous holiday staying at the old cataract, this hotel was recommended by my travel agency (Go Luxor Tours) and i couldn't be any happier! Great friendly staff, fast check in process, good food and AMAZING Nile view from the new wing! it was my dream watching the Nile from my balcony and i couldn't ask for a better view I toured Egypt (Cairo, Luxor and Aswan) with a local agency called Go Luxor Tours (www.goluxortours.com), they were very efficient, punctual and always on time, brand new cars with great ac (which is a must in Egypt's hot weather) and friendly guides who speak fluent English! Ask for Mike's help and organization...it will be your best holiday ever because of him. Thanks guys for such fabulous, unforgettable holiday!

Incredible property and the service was amazing. The cleanliness alone was really impressive. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. Don’t think twice and book here. The only destination in Aswan.

Mr. Ossama Sayed was exceptional in regards to the service & welcome I received in this beautiful 5 star palace on the Nile in Aswan, Egypt. Great hotel in a great location
