2 night family stay at Chateau de la Poste
2 night family stay at the chateau de la poste. We had a family room on the top floor in the tower of the chateau. the room was spacious, nice bathroom, but access is poor. There is a lift to get you to the 2nd floor, but then there is a narrow flight of stairs inside the room to access the bedroom. Not ideal if you have heavy luggage or if you have mobility issues. Also be aware that there is a cross beam across the room and if you are more than 1.5m tall you have to constantly watch your head. The room was quiet with a nice view. Surroundings are great for relaxing and activities. Breakfast is good. Did not dine at hotel, discovered a nice restaurant (Les 7 Meuses) with a stunning view stunning view a few miles away. Overall nice stay.

Beautiful landscape, bad hotel
We stayed two nights and even though the area and the hotel grounds were quite charming and relaxing the actual hotel experience was disappointing. Our check-in was not very welcoming. The person in charge seemed bored as she rushed through the check-in information. It felt like we were taking up her time and she couldn't bear to deal with another new guest. She then went on to explain the hotel rules (some of them quite obvious) as if we were there to make havoc: 'the bikes are free but you have to pay if you damage them', 'there's a fee if you check out late', 'you can't eat outside the hotel' (?)... When we asked for tourist info she reacted as if we were asking about Mars and advised to 'Google it.' We had payed for the cheapest room so we were fine when we were told our room was not in the main building but in the 'small castle' (probably the old servants' quarters) just a few meters away. The room was small but comfortable. However, the bathroom floor was dirty and there were even spiderwebs with two occupants. The breakfast was also disappointing (not at all like in the pictures): very bad coffee from a machine, old granola. The only plus side: fresh juice. The carpet in the eating area was tired-looking and there was dust behind the radiators. So, in summary, beautiful landscape, lovely castle, great dining in the charming village close-by (Crupet) but beware that you might only be paying for the views.

Character
Beautiful character setting with a view and spooky atmosphere. Room fittings a bit dated. Car parking about 200m away and can get uncomfortable when rainy.

Beautiful from the outside
The outside of the hotel was inviting, but the inside was in serious need of repair and updates. The worst thing about our stay was the fact that we could not get proper rest because of noise from the outside patio and the creaking floors, and the slamming doors. All of the doors were so old that they needed to be slammed in order to be closed. Therefore, we could not get proper rest until after 12:30 a.m. when all of the guests and hotel staff had turned in for the night.

Tranquil escape
The hotel staff were all so lovely, (especially Dorothee). The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the food was of a really high standard. The bar was cosy, relaxing and had some great local beers.

Very nice location : a pity the weather was poor s
Felt like second class citizens when we were told to make our way to the what I presume had been the stables of the chateau. Not a great distance, but not pleasant when the weather was wet and windy. Also there is a problem with luggage as the car park is a distance away and we had stairs to contend with. There was a very unpleasant smell in the room. Not nice at all. Another issue was the evening meal. It was far, far too expensive for what it was. As the hotel is isolated, eating at the chateau is about the only option open to residents. Breakfast was good and the girl who served us was lovely.

Two Night Stay
The main building looks great but we didn't stay in it and that wasn't clear in reservation. Staff was very friendly and helpful but reservation didn't have checkin time so we were there 3 hours early. A long walk from parking to room over rough ground with a big suitcase. Room was too far from wireless point so no wireless? Room and corridors very dark due to decor. The grounds were lovely to walk in and bed was nice.

A classy hotel in the middle of nowhere, overlooking a valley. Lovely grounds and lots of things to do including a badminton net, playground, tennis courts, mountain bikes, etc. Everything just there to be used, with no fuss. Really nice to sit on the balcony/bar, overlooking the valley in the evening!

Awful and very disappointing
We arrived around 8pm to be told the restaurant was closed. When I queried this reception phoned them. We would be allowed in providing we went immediately. We were kept waiting, there was no menu and no choice. When I mentioned my diet allergy I was told that there was nothing I could eat and there was no other food in the kitchen even though I had notified them in advance. When I asked what do you expect me to do starve I was told yes or we could try the town 3k away. By this time it was 9pm and most places would be shut they then reluctantly said they could make me an omelette, which was not very good. Our room was like a shoebox, the decor was dark and dingy and my husband was nearly hit on the head by a large pile of used sheets thrown down from an upper floor. It's a shame as they are beautiful buildings in a beautiful setting badly let down by the interior and staff.

Would stay again
We stayed here before in a previous November and enjoyed it then as now. Each time was for an overnight stay as we were on road trips and you need to be driving to find this hotel. Watch out for local directional signs. It's a very isolated and tranquil setting and the chateau itself is charming. Unusual shower/toilet arrangement in our room. Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff.

A magical experience
This place being a converted chateau built by Napoleon's nephew was a magical experience for us. It was beautiful inside and out. The setting was outstanding sitting on a hill with expansive green lawn and gorgeous flowers and trees and a long walking path for an evening stroll in the country. It was fabulous. They really did a nice job renovating it.

The hotel is in a very old mansion with beautiful grounds. Room was very small and simple, not many decorative details as the main building has. Breakfast ok, nothing special.

Nice place to stop between Orval and Ieper. The restaurant was closed for dinner but we were given a list of nearby restaurants. We would have appreciated knowing this fact in advance of our arrival. We did have a great meal at a restaurant in the closest town.

disappointing
Don't expect to stay in the chateau if you book a basic room. Our room was in an outbuilding, converted to rooms. It was very dull, dismal and grubby, with a steep stairway leading to the rooms. The previous occupants of our room had been smoking dope, which you could smell throughout. We let the management know, they didn't offer to change our room, only said they knew who it was. It was a very disapointing stay.

The chTeau is stunning and the grounds are really beautiful, in the middle of a forest -very peaceful. Room were a great size, shower was powerful and nice and hot. Breakfast was amazing, a huge buffet and the breakfast room was large, open and had lovely views of the grounds. Would definitely return for another stay.

I loved the loftcube it was perfect except that it didn't have wifi which we were in need of because we wanted to contact family. The view was incredible on the other hand. They helped us with our car and were very helpful but we really needed wifi for music and for alot of other things so that bugged us alot !

Horrible service, they will sell you the only dinner option, 35 EUR buffet, without telling you the price or that drinks are not included. Definitely not worth it.

Chateau in beautiful grounds
We arrived after dark and the hotel looked beautiful with all the lights on. Our room was a superior double on the second floor. We had to go through a door from the main hallway, down a few steps, up a few steps and through a rather narrow door set at a strange angle. Our room was a good size with a high ceiling and some unusual angles as it was in a turret at the back of the hotel. The sanitaryware was modern and of a good quality and the bed was huge and comfortable. We didn't have breakfast (which was not included in our room rate) as we preferred to drive for a while before eating.

Lovely chateau
Lovely hotel if you are looking for a relax and something different . It's not within walking distance of any shops or restaurants. Breakfast was absolutely lovely . Unfortunately we didn't get to try the restaurant for an evening meal as it was closed . Very quiet neighbourhood with fabulous surroundings .

No food available
This is a splendid hotel in a lovely part of Belgium, and we got the room at an excellent price. However, I've marked-down the hotel significantly for service due to the non-availability of an evening meal, resulting in a 10-15 min drive (at the end of a long day) to find a restaurant. The restaurant had been booked by a corporate team-building group who were staying at the hotel (it's that kind of place) and none of the other options I suggested - such as a bar snack, room service, a quite table on the corner of the terrace - could be accommodated. I was left with the impression that guest service is sometimes secondary to what's convenient for the hotel and it's staff - in good hotels it's obviously the other way round. Something for the hotel management to think about!

Do not go
Arrived and there was a corporate event on which meant all of the facilities were shutdown to other hotel guests, stood at the bar for an hour ... no service, no restaurant open, nowhere to get even a glass of water or anything to eat .. not that handy considering the hotel is very isolated. Beautiful setting, room very basic but nice bathroom. Rude staff (just the two), useless for a family with two children we had to demand and refund and leave (as did other arriving guests). None of this was indicated on the website before or during our arrival.

Shame we were not in the main chateau. Complained that we made booking six months in advance, and got an upgrade. Fantastic setting, and lovely buildings. Meals good, and reasonable considering distance to closest restaurant.

Chateau for corporate events
Overnight stay, took us a longtime to find, felt like we were staying at a conference centre more than a friendly hotel. Functional, room was small, didn't have the dinner which was €19 for various salads and didn't have breakfast €15. Staff were pleasant but not overly welcoming and could do with a bit more enthusiasm!!

Sleep like a king
If you have a car and planning to stay in the area close to Dinant, do not hesitate to stay somewhere else! It is a real Chateau, in a foresty area, very calm and cozy. We slept in a Superior Twin Room. The room itself was small however fresh and comfy beds. The bathroom was very good and the forest view from your window in the morning is just priceless. We only slept for one night and would like to stay there more to discover the Chateau area.
